Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get help?

By telephoning/e-mailing the Local Couple Counselling Service in your area to make an appointment.

Does it matter that we're not married?

You don't need to be married. Counselling is provided regardless of marital status.

I'm gay, can couple counselling help with my relationship problems?

Yes, counselling is provided regardless of sexual orientation.

I'm already separated/divorced can I still get help?

Yes, if you are recently separated/divorced counselling can help you to view an ending with shared insight and lessened bitterness.

Is it confidential?

All of our counsellors are bound by a duty of confidentiality. Nothing learned from clients, including the fact of their visit, or their initial enquiry, will be passed on outside the service without the client's permission unless there is a clear ethical or legal duty to do so.

How much does it cost?

There is no set fee and no-one is excluded from the service because of inability to pay. However, each local service is a registered charity and therefore very dependant upon donations from clients towards the cost of the counselling sessions.
